Makinsey had a great time at the basketball game Friday night. One of her favorite cheerleaders gave her a cookie that was hot out of the oven. YUMMY!!!

Lewis and I decided to take some time off from work to go and visit Makinsey's Bahma and Pa. We left around 5:00 on Thursday afternoon and arrived around 9:30. The drive is not bad, we love spending time with family. On Friday and Saturday, my mom, Makinsey, and I went shopping. I love to shop. On Sunday, my sister was able to come up to visit with her sons. On Monday, my brother and his wife came up for a day from Savannah. We all spent the day together playing games, fishing, hitting golf balls, playing the Wii, and having a great dinner that Bahma and I made. Yes, I can cook. We had to come home today because we have to go back to work tomorrow. Yucky....
Makinsey already misses her Bahma and Pa;-)

Chinese New Years, also called Lunar New Year, Spring Festival starts with the New Moon on the first day of the new year and ends on the full moon 15 days later. The 15th day of the new year is called the Lantern Festival. New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are celebrated as a family affair, a time of reunion and thanksgiving.

Good luck
Opening windows and/or doors is considered to bring in the good luck of the new year.
Switching on the lights for the night is considered good luck to 'scare away' ghosts and spirits of misfortune that may compromise the luck and fortune of the new year.
Sweets are eaten to ensure the consumer a "sweet" year.
It is important to have the house completely clean from top to bottom before New Year's Day for good luck in the coming year.
